  1. FLUTE

  3. Welcome to Flute 1.5. Flute is a scripting language for Windows 3.1x and
  4. Windows 95 (It automatically adapts to suit the operating system it does
  5. not need to be reinstalled for Windows 95).
  6. Flute supports control of programs using:
  7.     Mouse, Keyboard, menu and other user interface manipulations
  8.     DDE Communications
  9.     OLE Automation controller (including an object browser)
  10.     Windows Acts (functions performed by windows themselves)
  11.  
  12. To Install run SETUP.EXE (you must run setup as it installs registry entries)
  13. and other Windows information. You may need OLE2 installed on your system to
  14. make use of OLE Automation. Most programs already install it and Windows 95
  15. has it as standard. If no product has already installed OLE2 then there is
  16. no program that you can control using OLE Automation and hence no point in 
  17. Flute providing these files.

  22. Registration is free, Flute is a developing program, by registering you
  23. will be kept informed of developments.

  25. Flute in its present draft is in Public Domain. It may be copied freely, 
  26. provided that it is unmodified and complete.

  28. Future versions of Flute may be retail products rather than public
  29. domain.

  31. Our intention is to add event handling to Flute and expand the Window acts
  32. to support a wider range of standard Window classes.

  55. The installer installs two sample scripts in your startup group -
  56.     Bthday1 wishes you a happy birthday
  57.     calc puts a button in the bottom right corner, click it to
  58.     type in a calculation.

  61. If you're having system problems there are several steps to take:
  62.  
  63. 1) report the problem to us
  64. 2) You can remove the window acts section of Flute by deleting the 
  65.   'Subclass.dll' and 'Loader.exe' and removing the line 
  66.   'Load = c:\Flute\loader.exe' from you're win.ini file (Load = may have
  67.   several items on it, you should only remove the program 'loader.exe'
  68.   leaving 'load=').

  70. To remove Flute altogether, you need to remove this line from your win.ini
  71. and then delete all the programs in the flute folder.
